Many of us have the childhood memory of “follow the leader.” Someone would be arbitrarily chosen to lead us through rooms and desks and playground equipment to take us on an adventure, and to allow our imaginations to dream of various destinations. There’s an inherent principle of leadership: leaders have followers. Good leaders empower followers to see beyond the person to a greater goal or purpose or vision. Good leaders also lead by example. As we are called to lead and serve in the church and exercise our influence, our goal-vision-purpose is simple: point to Christ. This week we will explore the significance of making “pointing to Christ” our highest priority as people of influence both in the church and in the world.
